Vasilis

Vasilis was my first large diameter vertical spinner combat robot. It competed in the 3 lb Beetleweight weight class and weighed in at 2.99 lb. The weapon boasts a diameter of 145mm (~5.7in) and has a 30 degree rake. In early testing it sliced 3 of its own belts before I designed and implemented a belt guard. It also suffered from weight issues causing the rear armor to have it's size reduced to the point of near ineffectiveness. Despite all this, in it's first fight it achieved a quick knockout putting the opposing bot out of commission for the remainder of the day.

The design is somewhat inspired by the Battlebots Uppercut and Monsoon. Vasilis is named after the mythical sword of light and darkness from the fantasy novel series Fablehaven. A vastly improved version of this bot is currently in the works and will likely debut in early-to-mid 2026.
